Atma Darshan Yoga Centre - Karunamitra

Atma Darshan Yoga Centre, led by Kristina Nicklason, offers a holistic and accessible approach to yoga, rooted in classical traditions. The centre provides a gentle yet effective practice suitable for all levels. With a focus on adaptability, classes cater to individual needs and ensure a supportive and inclusive experience for students of varying abilities.

With the support of a YFG grant, Atma Darshan Yoga Centre hosted a residential workshop for yoga teachers focused on trauma-sensitive yoga. Held in a rural retreat setting, the workshop blended education, experiential learning and networking to equip teachers with the skills to support students who have experienced trauma.

Supporting teachers in trauma-aware yoga

With our support, Atma Darshan Yoga Centre is providing professional development and fee relief for yoga teachers dedicated to serving others. This initiative ensures that more teachers have access to specialised training in trauma-sensitive yoga, equipping them with the skills to create safe and supportive spaces for their students.

Participants in the course will gain a deeper understanding of trauma physiology, the core values of trauma-aware teaching, and how to guide students in safely connecting to their own felt sensations. Through practical tools and techniques, teachers will learn how to help students develop a sense of safety, self-regulation and choice in their yoga practice.
