Dr Swami Shankardev Saraswati and Jayne Stevenson provide an integrated yoga and psychology product through the Big Shakti platform. It is designed for a wide range of students, particularly experienced practitioners and including international yoga enthusiasts. Their initiative addresses the increasing demand for deeper insights into yoga philosophy and psychology, which are essential for mental well-being. Drawing on Swami Shankardev’s expertise as a clinical psychologist and training at Bihar Ashram with Swami Satyananda Saraswati, they integrate Eastern and Western perspectives to make yoga accessible and relevant for modern audiences.
To build its brand offering, the Big Shakti website received a YFG Grant to enhance its learning module, resulting in a revamped experience.
This included designing a new website structure, adding a membership portal for the online community and creating specialised content for marketing and social media channels through a mobile app.
Access to higher teachings addresses the need for authentic, in-depth yoga philosophy, particularly regarding mental health and spiritual development. Dr Shankardev notes that contemporary yoga often emphasises asana and meditation. Meanwhile, broader, higher teachings demonstrate yoga’s potential for self-development.
During the grant period in 2022, Big Shakti conducted a comprehensive Light on the Chakras and Kundalini training for 100 participants.
They significantly improved old courses for a better user experience and wider reach on the new platform. With the YFG Grant, Big Shakti increased user engagement, sales and the number of course offerings.
The Intensive Chakra and Kundalini Course extended to two years of therapy sessions, guiding an exceptional group of advanced yogis and health practitioners. Recently celebrating 20 years of dedicated teaching, Big Shakti continues to share a wealth of healing, psychological and spiritual knowledge, connecting with a global audience. Thousands of students worldwide embrace the practices of Yoga Tantra merged with Western Psychology for optimal well-being and creative living.
