Yoga Grant Aaron Schultz

Outback Mind Foundation – An Outback Meditation Centre

Aaron Schultz founded the Outback Mind Foundation in 2019 with an aim to motivate and empower Australians to carve out their own journey towards physical and emotional wellness, free from anxiety. He achieves this through group-focused awareness and discussions, followed by direction on individual and practical well-being programs.

Originally an advocate for men’s health, The Outback Mind Foundation became a health promotion charity in 2022.

With over two decades of managing male teams in construction, mining and manufacturing, Aaron recognises the significant need for enhanced mental health support among men in regional areas, using a preventative approach.

Connecting through wellness practices

“There is no dedicated space for Yoga and Meditation within the Gladstone area in Central Queensland, which has higher rates of mental health challenges and male suicide than the national rate,” says Aaron.

Teaching Yoga, Meditation and Men’s Circles across the region since relocating a few years ago, there’s been tremendous interest in Aaron’s sessions. However, it has been challenging to find suitable spaces and community halls.

The Yoga For Good grant will contribute to this project and help create an Outback Meditation Centre to fulfil this need for a safe environment where people can connect through wellness practices.

“I’ve been running free weekly classes for the community and am getting great uptake both locally and from people driving over from Gladstone, Agnes Water and Tannum Sands.  I’m primarily teaching Yin, which is very welcome and has got many new people engaged with the practice.  I’m so grateful for your support, and it’s given me extra incentive to expand my offerings moving into 2024 and beyond”.

Aaron’s November Community Class, Restorative YIN with Aaron Schulz from The Outback Mind Foundation, is now available. It offers deep relaxation through yogic breathing, releasing stress. While the camera angle may be unconventional, it doesn’t detract from the overall effectiveness of the session.
